Fayetteville Water Tower Springs a Leak

Article Image Alt Text

Not a cloud was in the sky, but the water droplets kept falling from the sky near downtown Fayetteville Monday afternoon.

The city’s water tower has sprung a leak in a seal near the bottom of the tank, sending a spray of water downward.

With the way the wind was blowing Monday the water was soaking the back driveway of the Fayetteville post office.

But the fix was coming this week, said Fayetteville mayor Ronnie Pflughaupt. He said a repairman from Houston was coming to scale the tower and fix the leak - at a cost of about $5,000.

Pflughaupt said the city had to do similar repair to the seal  about 10 years ago.
