Schubert

Monroe Schubert, 82, of La Grange, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017. Monroe was born in La Grange on Nov. 30, 1934, the son of Julius and Alma Gerhardine Wilhemine (Hahn) Schubert. Monroe was a barbeque cook and a well-known employee at Prause’s Meat Market. He started his career with Prause’s and retired after 43 years of service. He is survived by his brother, Arthur Schubert and wife, Clara, of La Grange. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017. Burial will follow at La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter, 240 Svoboda Lane, La Grange, Texas, National Rifle Association (www.nra.org) or a charity of one’s choice.
