Quirino Sanchez Moreno, 53, of West Point, entered his eternal home on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017. Quirino was born on June 20, 1963, the son of Escolastica and Emeterio Moreno of Miguel Hidalgo, Mexico. Quirino came to the United States in 1982, working on a hog farm and pecan plantation. In 1983, he went to work for Frank, Lottie, and Melba Fay Young as a ranch/ farm worker. In addition to being a dedicated worker, he soon became a valued extended member of the family. In 2007, he entered the oil field industry, and worked there until his death. He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Lulu Moreno; and three children: Bryan, Dalia, and Justin; four brothers: Felix, Jesus, Juan, and Mario; three sisters: Rufina, Emeteria, and Alma; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Quirino will be remembered for his infectious smile and generous way of life. Visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home, 208 W. Pearl St., in La Grange. Family received friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services were held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017. Burial followed at Pitman Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Primera Iglesia Bautista, 1099 N. Von Minden St., La Grange, Texas 78945; or to Relay For Life of La Grange, 4401 Lilac Lane, Victoria, Texas 77901.
