A Gun Shy Collector Alters Museum Focus

The Fayette County gun collector who had offered to loan his extensive collection of firearms to a local museum has decided not to “take his guns to town,” in the words of the Johnny Cash song.

The offer was withdrawn due to constraints over the administration of the guns and the proposed museum’s name.

That information was confirmed this week by County Judge Ed Janecka.

The absence of the historic firearms has substantially altered plans for the museum. The originally proposed “Texans in War” emphasis has morphed into the broader focus on “Texas Heroes.”  The museum will also feature a substantial library of military history.
