Remember When?

Feb. 24-28, 1967 A fast-moving grass and brush fire burned about 500 acres about 10 miles north of La Grange. It also consumed a large, almost new barn containing approximately 2,000 bales of Coastal Bermuda hay on the C.L. Bryan Crestline Ranch. Another barn filled with hay and implements, as well as the Bryan residence were spared through the efforts of firemen. The fire, which started west of Hwy. 77 and south of Warda shortly after noon Thursday, was fanned by northwesterly winds that kept changing directions. It jumped the highway to the Bryan property and adjacent brush and pastureland and crossed three more county roads before firefighters got it under control.
