Johnson

Tommy Dee Johnson was born on Feb. 25, 1957 in Terrell, the son of J.D. Johnson and Tommie Faye (Lafayette) Johnson. He attended Westwood High School in Palestine. Tommy worked in the oilfield since the early 1980’s. He was a rig supervisor for Tex Lee Operating Company in Giddings for nearly 30 years. He died Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. Tommy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Dayna Johnson of Giddings; his grandson, Cooper Johnson of Giddings; his mother, Tommie Faye Johnson of Palestine; his sister, Renee Richards and her husband, Larry of Palestine; two nieces, Tammi Stanaland and her husband, Scott of Elkhart and Nicole Whitener and her husband, Gary of Palestine as well as several great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and his many friends. A gathering to celebrate Tommy’s life and share memories and stories of him will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 beginning at 5 p.m. at The Bullpen in Giddings. Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
