Brenda Joyce Jax

Brenda Joyce Jax of Columbus died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, after a battle with leukemia.

Born in Houston, on Aug. 4, 1940, to Vesta and Al G. Kuhlmann, Brenda was their only child. Brenda’s life as a young woman was devoted to raising her children, Mona and Alan. In 1999, Brenda married Thomas Allen Jax of Houston to whom she was uncommonly devoted.

Following their marriage, they set about creating a veritable garden paradise in Columbus.

She is survived by her daughter Mona Lynn Smith and husband Jeff and their children Sumner and Sloane; Alan Ray McKeon and his children Abby and Adam; step-daughter Cathy Jax Nickel and husband Mike and his children Mike, Jr. and Tammy; and step-daughter Janet Jax Lorenz.

A memorial service for Brenda will be held on March 10, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1229 Milam Street, in Columbus.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the church may be made in Brenda’s memory.
