Ernestine Wilkerson, 76, of La Grange died Thursday, March 2, 2017. Ernestine was born on March 6, 1940 in Rutersville to Verge Wilkerson and Lillie (Hayes) Wilkerson. He married Marjorie (Griffin) Wilkerson on Dec. 6, 1958 in La Grange. He worked as a ranch supervisor and was a deacon and member of Big Spring Hill Missionary Baptists Church in Oldenburg. He is survived by his wife; daughters, Brenda W. and husband Ruben Eric Williams of Houston, Gwendolyn J. and husband James Byerly of N. Richland Hills, and Theresa W. and husband James Brown of New Jersey; sons, Darryl E. and wife Sheri Wilkerson of La Grange, Jerrial W. and wife Noelia Wilkerson of Georgetown, Keith Wilkerson of Sanger, Rodney Wilkerson of La Grange, and Michael Floyd of Houston; sisters,Bernice Hill of Houston, Doris Kimble of Houston, and Clara and husband Lenzie Burke of Houston; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11 at 11 a.m. at Second Baptists Church in La Grange. The Rev. Don Shelton will officiate. Interment will follow in the La Grange City Cemetery. Tommy E. Taylor Funeral Home in La Grange is in charge of arrangements.
