La Grange Man Arrested for Breaking HEB Freezer Door During Beer Heist
Police: Same Man Threatened to ‘Tear to Pieces’ Texas One Stop During Separate Cigarette Theft
La Grange Police arrested a local man who they say was responsible for breaking the freezer at HEB while stealing a six-pack of beer.
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath identified the suspect as Timothy Jarvis Brown, 28 of La Grange. Gilbreath said Brown was also responsible for stealing cigarettes and threatening employees at Texas One Stop.
The incident at HEB took place on Feb. 19. at 8:40 p.m. Gilbreath said
Brown took a six-pack of beer out of the beer cooler and threw one of the bottles at a freezer door across the aisle, breaking the glass. Gilbreath said the bottle did not break. He said Brown picked up the bottle, threatened a manager, and threw the bottle at a register, where the bottle did break. Gilbreath said Brown left without paying.
Then on March 8 around 6 p.m., Gilbreath said Brown walked into Texas One Stop with a stick and asked for a pack of cigarettes and told the clerk to turn on the gas pump. The attendant set the cigarettes on the counter. Gilbreath said Brown took the cigarettes but refused to pay.
“He said if they refused to turn on the gas pump, he was going to tear the store to pieces,” Gilbreath said.
The employees called 911, but Brown left without getting any fuel before police arrived.
“He did the same thing at Kort’s Korner prior to all this,” Gilbreath said.
Gilbreath said a deputy from the Sheriff’s Office recognized the suspect’s pattern of behavior and identified him to La Grange Police.
“Between the Sheriff’s Office and La Grange Police, we located the subject at his house,” Gilbreath said.
The Chief added that Brown had multiple Fayette County traffic warrants as well.
