My Forgotten Hat

Over the years I have worn many hats – daughter, student, mother, teacher, grandmother, publisher. Some of these are permanent positions, while others are temporary. One of the temporary ones I had forgotten about (fence builder’s helper) came back this weekend.

It all started when we built our house, 34 years ago. We decided that we wanted a nice wooden fence separating the front yard from the front pasture, but we couldn’t afford to pay someone to do the work, so we did it ourselves.
