Eugene Edwin Muzny, 91, of Plum, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Eugene was born in Ellinger on Aug. 26, 1925, the son of Theodore and Mary (Kovar) Muzny. He married Edith Walla on Oct. 25, 1949 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Plum. Eugene served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during WWII. After returning from the Army, he went to work for Morgan Implement Company in Plum, Texas as a salesman and worked there for 42 years before his retirement. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Plum. He is survived by his wife, Edith, of 67 years; one daughter, Margie Janda and husband, Steve, of Hostyn; three sons: Daniel Muzny and wife, Jackie of La Grange; Mark Muzny of Somerville; Michael Muzny and wife, Sheree, of Lake Jackson; two sisters: Georgia Schrader and husband, Jesse, of Thorndale; Bernice Ridgway and husband, Don, of Copperas Cove; one brother, Steve Muzny and wife, Geri, of Wallis; eight grandchildren: Stephanie Janda Magee; Steve Janda, Sam Janda, Mica DeScioli, Steven Muzny, Matthew and Adam Muzny and Megan Muzny; nine great grandchildren: Makayla Magee, Mattie and Alice Muzny, Juliana DeScioli, Aubrey, Jacob, Wesley and Hank Muzny, and Kaislin McGaughey. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Lauren Muzny and sister, Gladys Kaltwasser. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2017 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Plum at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017. A rosary will be recited prior to the mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, La Grange Baseball Association or to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
