Remember When?

April 18-21, 1967

Work was expected to begin shortly on a contract for fill, base work and paving of a new parking lot for The First National Bank of La Grange, let to Charles A. Eilers of Eilers Construction Co. of Schulenburg. The location was the “L” shaped property fronting on both N. Jefferson and E. Colorado that the bank had purchased. Bank president William F. Hofmann said it would provide parking for 40 cars.

The annual report for the Mid- Texas Bookmobile showed 1966 circulation up 1,000 volumes over the 1965 total. Fayette County was, once again, first in use of the mobile library with locals checking out 21,563 books, about 300 more than in 1965.
