Eichler

Woodrow Douglas Eichler, 63, of La Grange, died Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. Douglas was born in Giddings on Sept. 30, 1953, the son of Woodrow and Mundina (Glaeser) Eichler. He married Barbara Kubesch on Sept. 15, 1973 in Weimar. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. He worked as an Equipment Operator for Fayette Electric Cooperative, Inc. for 29 years. He continued his career with IMCO as a welder and then at Sharp Propane as a delivery and maintenance person. Douglas is survived by his wife, Barbara, one daughter, Tammy Eichler, of Brenham; two sons, Aaron Eichler and wife, Audrey, of Seguin and Scott Eichler of La Grange; one brother, Kenneth Eichler and wife, Mary Ann, of Lincoln; and two granddaughters, Abbigale and Addison Eichler. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation was held Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. following the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017, with burial following in the La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, American Cancer Society of Austin or a charity of one’s choice.
