The Fayette County Beef Cattle Committee and 42 other Fayette County cattle owners were renewing their efforts to complete a petition to qualify for the Type II Brucellosis testing program. According to beef cattle committee chair Milton Koenning, there were approximately 1,800 signatures on the petitions, but an additional 500 were needed.

The Third Court of Civil Appeals in Austin upheld two rulings by Texas Savings and Loan Commissioner James O. Gerst that denied two savings association offices for La Grange. The court’s decision reversed a ruling by an Austin district judge that Gerst had erred and the two offices should be allowed to open
