Brian Prause was aiming at a new home run record in La Grange Little League play. Although he had walloped seven four-masters through the first six games, the Pirates had only one tie to show for his efforts. The existing record for the most homers during a regular season was shared by Milt Cox Jr. and Bubba Riehs, each having belted out nine.

The Frisch Auf! Five band was staging its first Sunday afternoon concert at Frisch Auf! Village on Monument Hill. Members were: Don Meiners, drums; Ronnie Sachs, cornet; Gary Diers, cornet; Lynn Wessels, trombone; and Jimmy Legler, baritone.
