Joyce Sedell Weishuhn Morgan, 91, died June 14, 2017 in Giddings. A memorial service celebrating her life was held Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas. Joyce was born on Aug. 6, 1925 in La Grange in Fayette County to Reinhard Weishuhn and Elsa Tiemann Weishuhn. Joyce was a retired secretary. She served as president of Woodlawn Optimists Club in 1963-1964 in San Antonio. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas for decades where she was ordained Elder and moderator of Presbyterian Women. Joyce was baptized on June 10, 1926 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange by pastor R. Heise. She was also confirmed there on Oct. 15, 1939 by pastor Heise. Her confirmation Bible verse was Col. 1, 20. “Be all my heart and all my days devoted to my savior’s praise; and let my glad obedience prove how much I owe, how much I love.” She married Marvin Morgan on Oct. 25, 1947 at St. Marks Methodist Church in Houston. Joyce is survived by faithful, caring sister, Aldine Bernshausen of Giddings, and friend Everett Maas of Round Top; brother-in- law, Delvin Zingelmann of La Grange; sister-in-law, Lois Kennedy of Manhattan, Kan.; dear friend, Harry Blanek of Dallas; special nephews, Larry Pease of Dallas, Larry Bernshausen and wife Margaret of Ledbetter; great newphew, Dusty Bernshausen and wife Jennifer of La Grange; great nieces, Laura Robertson and husband Chad of Ledbetter, Jessica Bernshausen of Ledbetter and friend Kirt Weyand of Round Top, Devin Bellue and husband Josh of La Grange; and many numerous other nieces and newphews. Joyce was preceded in death by husband, Marvin Morgan; parents, Reinhard and Elsa Weishuhn; son, Donald Morgan; sister, Barbara Zingelmann; two brothers-in-law, Perry Bernshausen and Lawrence Morgan; three sisters-in-law, twins Muriel Pease and Mary Ward, and Ilene Krase; niece, Donna Zingelmann Apgar; newphew, Ron Pease; and infant great great- nephew, Coy Wayne Bernshausen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Dallas Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association of America, or a charity of your choice.
