Faye (Drees) Ehler, 88, of La Grange, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in Weimar. Faye was born in Garden City, Kan. on Dec. 7, 1928, to William and Edna (Roenfeldt) Drees. She married Pastor Clarence C. Ehler in June 8, 1949 at Garden City, Kan. Faye received her Associate of Business Degree from Wartburg College in Dubuque, Iowa. She worked as a Secretary/Accountant at Kerrville ISD in Kerrville for 10 years and also was a seamstress. Faye was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Afternoon Circle, St. Paul Lutheran Quilters Group, Synod Delegate to ALCA and ELCA and choir member of the Women of Evangelical/Lutheran Church of America. She played the organ and the piano for five congregations, was a Sunday school teacher, taught confirmation classes and  served as church secretary. Her many hobbies included playing the organ and piano, sing in choirs, quilting, sewing, needlecraft, canning, cooking and reading. She was a loving wife, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and good friend to many people. Faye is survived by two daughters: Carolyn Ehler Blumberg of Seguin; Ruth Hinkle and husband, Paul, of Kerrville; two sons: David Ehler and wife Patricia, of La Grange; James A. Ehler and wife, Debbie of Pleasanton; daughter-in-law, Anita Ehler; grandchildren: Sarah Ehler; Rachel Ehler Hernandez and husband, Tobias; Mary Ehler; Carlos Ehler and wife, Jessica; Eric Ehler; Courtney Schaafs and husband, Guy; Joseph Hinkle; Marta Creech and husband, Wes; Gordon Ehler and partner, Irial Ehler; great grandchildren: Zion and Silas Hernandez, Hadley Ehler, Charlie Ehler; sister, Sharon Ackley and husband, Jim, of Amarillo; brother, Donald Drees and wife, Betty of Seminole, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence C. Ehler; son, John Ehler; brother, Kenneth Drees and wife, Evelyn Guhr Drees and sister-in-law, Evelyn Woodard Drees; sister, Fern Riewe and brother-in-law, Marvin and son-in-law, Gilbert W. “Buster” Blumberg. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 1 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 1, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Grange. Burial will follow at Black Jack Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church or Texas Lutheran University.
