Wieder

Graveside services for Douglas Wieder, 60, of Giddings, were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Giddings City Cemetery in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. Douglas Roger Wieder was born on July 1, 1956 in Giddings, the son of Elmo “Pete” Bernie Wieder and Bernice Mildred (Siegmund) Wieder. He was a resident of a group home with Texas Rural Health Services in Giddings for several years following the death of his mother in 1995. Douglas worked with  recycling in La Grange through the TRHS program. He enjoyed watching old television shows, such as the Andy Griffith Show, and listening to country music. Douglas died the morning of Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Bastrop Nursing Center following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo Wieder and Bernice Wieder Carlile. Douglas is survived by his aunt, Lydia Siegmund of Giddings; two cousins, Ray Siegmund and his son, Werner of Giddings and Tina Mathers and her husband, Chris and their daughters, Rachel and Shannon, of Galveston. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
