Markwardt

Violet Markwardt, 93, died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Colonial Belle Nursing Home in Bellville. She was born on March 3, 1924 in Fayette County to Edwin and Lilly Birkelbach. On June 2, 1940 she married Chester Markwardt, Sr. in Round Top. She loved bingo, watching baseball games and talking to the television when the Astros played. She was a nurse at Bellville Hospital for numerous years. She is survived by: her children, Florance Cordes, Chester Markwardt, Jr. (Karen), Fernell Pieper (Billie), Myrt Meinkowsky (Leonard), Randy Markwardt (Diana), Glenn Markwardt (Janis), Charlette Walton (Lonnie), Cindy Lara and Bruce Markwardt (Mary); thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: husband Chester, her parents, sisters Roselie and Lillian; brother Edwin; son-in-law Weldon Cordes; and granddaughter Malet Weatherby. Memorials may be made in Violet’s name to Compassionate Care Hospice.
