Remember When?

July 4-7, 1967

Sheriff T.J. Flournoy reported that during the first six months of 1967 crime had been lower in Fayette County than he had ever seen it. “The April term of the grand jury only returned four felony indictments, which is the least we have had in at least 40 years. Some of our neighboring counties had 40 or 50 and one had 80. A lot of credit is due to the good citizens of the county for being real cooperative and helping us peace officers to maintain law and order, for which I want to thank all of you and solicit your continued support,” he said.
