Schaefer

Walter Schaefer, 75, of Bandera died June 26, 2017 in San Antonio. He was born in La Grange to Lona Havemann Schaefer and Walter Schaefer on April 24, 1942. Walter is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Katy Paige Schaefer. He graduated from La- Grange High School in 1960. After working for MKT Railroad in Smithville and First State Bank in Port Lavaca, he had a long career and retired from the E.I. DuPont plant of Victoria. As a self-taught musician, Walter loved playing, dancing, and listening to country music. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley of 17 years; his former wife Sue Synnott Schaefer and their sons, Daniel and wife Tammy of Atlanta, Ga., and Robert and wife Sherry of Victoria; granddaughters, Shelby and Jenna Schaefer; sisters, Virginia Schroeder and Shirley Schaefer of La Grange, and Carol Renker of Austin; step daughter, Shirley Bennett Perry; step son, Ben Boysen; numerous grandchildren and extended family and friends. Funeral services and entombment were held Friday, June 30, 2017 at Garden of Memories Mausoleum Chapel in Kerrville.
