Carol Jean Kleiber Zwahr died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Carol was born Jan. 5, 1951, in Houston, to Edward “Doc” and Ruby Rauch Kleiber and was baptized into the Catholic faith which she so loved that same year on Jan. 21 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Houston. After moving to LaGrange, she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Church where she received the sacraments of First Holy Communion in 1958 and Confirmation in 1960. She graduated from LaGrange High School in 1969, Blinn College in 1971, and years later as a proud Aggie from Texas A&M University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education.She then taught in the Brenham ISD until her retirement due to health concerns. On June 24, 1972, Carol married the love of her life, Larry Zwahr, and they made their home in Brenham where they raised their three children. Their love was truly ordained by God, and they were an inspiration to all who knew them. She loved her family with all her might. She enjoyed teaching, reading, singing, and most importantly, the Lord God, as evidenced by the faith and grace she exuded,especially as she stayed faithfully by Larry’s side as they both struggled with cancer and as he died from this world to be with our heavenly Father in 2002. Her love of God, strength of character, and humility of heart proved time and again a blessing to all who knew her. Carol is preceded in death by husband Larry, parents Edward and Ruby Kleiber, father- in- law and mother-in-law Walter and Rosie Zwahr, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Curtis and Patsy Zwahr, Calvin and Carolyn Zwahr, Lydia “Mimi” Zwahr, Daniel Zwahr, Rudolph “Sonny” Vogler, and niece Susan Meyer. She is survived by sister and brother-in-law Judy and Steve Avis, sister Sandy Els, sister-in-law Dorothy Vogler, brothers- in- law Billy Zwahr and Wally Zwahr, daughter and son-in-law Amy and Aaron Schramm, sons and daughters-in-law Nathan and Alison Zwahr and Brian and Katie Zwahr, grandchildren Brad Schramm and fiancée Rachael Kelley, Lana Schramm, Alexa Zwahr, and Alyssa Zwahr, great-grandchildren Autumn and Aurora Osagie, along with many other relatives and friends. Visitation was held Friday, July 7 from 6 to 8 p.m., with Rosary at 8 p.m., at Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham. Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, July 8 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 701 Church St., Brenham, in the Parish Activity Center, followed by interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery and reception at Brenham Knights of Columbus Hall. Carol requested memorial donations to Hospice Brazos Valley, St. Mary’s Family Choir, and Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library. Tributes may be shared at www.BrenhamMemorialChapel.com.
