Gordon Jerome Hornak

Gordon Jerome Hornak, 61, of Houston, TX, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017. He was born in Bellville, Texas on February 7, 1956, to Laddie and Beatrice (Zbranek) Hornak. He married Peggy (Huntington) Hornak on July 1, 1978 in Houston, Texas. He worked as a Telephone Engineer for Southwestern Bell, Fort Bend and Embark Telephone for more than 35 years. Gordon was a man with a gruff exterior, but had a soft spot in his heart for his family. He truly loved his children and grandchildren. Gordon is survived by his wife, Peggy, of Houston; his father, Laddie Hornak, also of Houston; two daughters, Melanie Hornak and husband, Angel Lopez, of Houston; Emilie Arkin and husband, David, of Round Rock; sister, Yvonne Nichols and husband, David, of Baytown; seven grandchildren: Matthew DuBose, Joseph Du- Bose, Adelynne Lopez, Ellianna Lopez and Avery, Landon and Harper Arkin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice, and sister, Yvette Hornak. A visitation was held on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 2 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Zaskoda Chapel in Industry, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Industry, Texas with Rev. Timothy P. Bucek officiating. A rosary will be recited prior to the mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Renal Association. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home, 208 W.
