Schulenburg Shaken by Murder on Hwy. 90
One Schulenburg man was found dead Tuesday morning, July 25, and another Schulenburg man is in jail on a murder charge.
According to a report from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, authorities found 45-year-old Russell Holub dead at his home on US Highway 90 east of Schulenburg. Lt. David Beyer of the Sheriff's Office said someone had called the department's non-emergency number around 8:30 a.m. to request a welfare check on Holub. Fayette County EMS and deputies from the Sheriff's Office responded to the home, located near the intersection of Bird House Hill Road and Hwy. 90. They found Holub deceased.
Beyer declined to describe the manner of death pending the results of an autopsy. Texas Ranger Brent Barina is assisting investigators at the Sheriff's Office.
Barina and the Sheriff's investigators quickly identified a suspect, 34-year-old Gregory Adcock of Schulenburg. They arrested Adcock on a murder charge after speaking with him at the Sheriff's Office, Beyer said.
