Commissioners Issue Burn Ban

Fayette County Commissioners enacted a ban on burning in unincorporated areas of the county at a meeting on Monday, July 24.

Pct. 4 Commissioner and County Judge Pro Tem Tom Muras, who presided over the meeting in the absence of County Judge Ed Janecka, said several area fire chiefs recommended the ban.

The Keetch-Byram drought index maintained by the Texas Weather Connection at Texas A&M University, shows elevated drought conditions across much of Fayette County. The index shows an especially dry area running northeast to southwest through the center of the County, as shown in the map above.
