Dog Finds A Missing 12-Year-Old
Fayette County canine officer Lobos is known for sniffing out drugs, but Monday he found a missing child in the middle of the night.
Monday about 10 p.m. Fayette County dispatch received a call about a missing 12-year-old at 11001 State Highway 95, in the Cistern area. Deputy Colin Godmintz arrived at the scene and it was reported to him that the young boy had been missing since about 8:20 p.m.
The missing youth had last been seen feeding the horses on the property and did not return to the residence after completing the chore.
Deputy Godmintz requested additional assistance with the search after checking the immediate area for the missing child. Responding to the scene were deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, DPS troopers, the Muldoon Fire Department, and Fayette County EMS. Also assisting in the search was DPS Helicopter 100 from Austin.
Sgt. Randy Thumann and Lobos arrived at the location at approximately 12:30 am. Lobos was able to track the scent of the child which led Thumann to the child’s location, which was in the woods east of the residence. The child was evaluated by EMS, and found not be injured. He was returned to his parents.
