Bolling
Doyle Edgar Bolling, 77, of Schulenburg died Sunday, Aug. 6 at College Place after a short illness. Born in La Grange on Jan. 18, 1940, he was the elder son of Edgar Julius and Jessie Mae (Kaltwasser) Bolling. He worked as a machine operator at WKM in Houston and then at Kemlon in Engle, and finally as a farmer and rancher at Swiss Alp. Surviving are aunts and uncles, Loy Dell and Jo Rita Kaltwasser of Houston, and Catherine Kaltwasser of Houston; and numerous first cousins. He attended first grade at the Swiss Alp School and then Schulenburg ISD. He graduated in 1958. He entered the U.S. Army in 1963 and took his basic training at Fort Polk, La. Then he was posted to Fort Myer in Arlington, Va., outside Washington, D.C., as part of Headquarters Company of the U.S. Third Infantry, known as the Old Guard. He had a lifelong love for automobiles. He had an excellent eye for cars, and could identify by sight nearly every make and model on the road. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Evangelical Lutheran Church at Swiss Alp, with Rev. Lemae Higgs officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
