Remember When?
August 25-28, 1967
Texas Governor John Connally appointed Schulenburg attorney Paul Huser as judge and Brookshire attorney Oliver S. Kitzman as district attorney for the newly reconstituted 155th District Court representing Austin, Fayette and Waller counties. The men were to be sworn in by Judge Terry L. Jacks in the La Grange district courtroom.
The 1966-67 faculty and employment lists for La Grange public schools showed an increase of 12 people over the prior year. On staff were 73 teachers, 24 teacher aides, 14 bus drivers, 13 cafeteria employees and 13 maintenance men. In the administrative office were: C.A. Lemmons, superintendent; Ray Cornes, director of instruction; Weldon Chambers, counselor; Milton C. Schmidt, counselor; and Mrs. Dainty D. Smith, nurse.
