La Grange Delays School Until Sept. 5

La Grange ISD announced this afternoon that school will remain closed this week and reopen on Sept. 5. Here's a statement from the school:

"Due to the stress the flood has placed on the City of La Grange's Utilities Infrastructure La Grange ISD IS CANCELLING classes for this entire week (MONDAY AUGUST 28TH THROUGH FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 1ST. 

"The 2017-2018 school year will begin on Tuesday, September 5. Staff does not report tomorrow. Please check back to this website and our facebook page for any further updates. Thank you for your support of our city and school."

The school also canceled all athletic events this week, including Friday night's home football game against Liberty Hill.

Other Fayette County schools will start classes on Thursday, Aug. 31.
