The City of La Grange implemented a curfew from dusk until dawn in the flood-affected areas of town. City manager Shawn Raborn said the curfew will be in effect from Main Street to the Colorado River. The curfew will not affect other areas of La Grange, and traffic will remain open on US 77.

"We are trying to keep people out of affected areas," Raborn said.

Anyone found in the area during the curfew could face criminal penalties.

Raborn said city workers and emergency responders are going through the area door-to-door to check for safety and health risks. He said the City has recieved reports of gas leaks. In addition, electric power is turned on in some areas, which could pose serious safety risks to residents trying to enter their homes. He asks everyone to stay out of the area until the inspections are complete. The process could take another day or two, he said.

Raborn added that water pressure is returning to normal around the City this afternoon, but the boil water order remains in effect. Water department personnel will send samples to the lab for testing tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 30. Raborn said the City would lift the order once those results come back clean, possibly as soon as Thursday.
