Houston Man Indicted for Murder of LG Plumber
A Fayette County Grand Jury indicted 21-year-old Dylan David Nelson of Houston for the murder of Jeremy Cornwell. Cornwell, a 43-year-old La Grange plumber, was found shot to death on July 6 at his home on Creamer Creek Road.
The grand jury also indicted Nelson on a felony stalking charge, allegedly committed on July 9. He was initially arrested on the stalking charge on July 10 and has remained in custody at the Fayette County Jail since. An indictment is not a ruling of guilt, but rather that enough evidence exists to proceed to a trial. District attorney Peggy Supak said investigators believe Cornwell was murdered on the evening of July 5.
“There was a female from here that (Nelson) was stalking, and he knew her from a prior relationship,” Supak said. “We believe the reason he was here that day was to find the girl.”
Supak declined to elaborate on evidence linking Nelson to the murder.
“Through the efforts of the Sheriff’s department and the Texas Rangers, we were able to develop Mr. Nelson as a suspect,” Supak said. “We had other crimes we were able to charge him with and get him apprehended while we continued our investigation until we had sufficient evidence to indict him for the murder.”
La Grange attorney Richard Halpain is representing Nelson.
