Remember When?

Oct. 13, 1967  Following a break-in at the bowling  alley in Schulenburg, a round-the- clock investigation paid off with  the apprehension of four young men  from the area. Sheriff T. J. Flournoy,  who worked with Deputy Sheriff  Fritz Prilop and Schulenburg Police  Chief Ed Orsak, said a break in the  case enabled them to round up the  subjects one by one. A quantity of  beer, cigarettes and some cash had  been taken. The case was to be heard  by the grand jury in November.

Southwestern States Telephone  Co. exchanges in Fayetteville, Schulenburg,  Weimar and La Grange  were included in the new directories.

The books also would include Colorado  Valley Telephone Cooperative’s  listings for the Borden, High  Hill, Hostyn, Plum and Warrenton  exchanges. In 1962 when the La  Grange exchange switched over to  the dial system, it had 1,555 connections.  The new phone book contained  1,872 listings.
