Melvin Carlton, Sr

Melvin Carlton, Sr., 87 of La Grange, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at Monument Hill Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Melvin was born July 1, 1930 to Love and Emma (Corothers) Carlton in La Grange. He was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in La Grange. He also served in the U.S. Army as a PFC in the Korean War. He is survived by his sons, Melvin Carlton, Jr. and wife Michelle of Round Rock and Marcel Carlton of Killeen; daughers, Kay E. McNeil and Cecilia Reed, both of San Antonio; sisters, Rosie Lee Scott, Willie Lee Scott, and Frances Scott, all of La Grange, and Allie Lee Ellis of Houston; brothers, Frank Scott of Houston and James Carlton and wife Dorothy of La Grange. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. at Tommy E. Taylor Funeral Home in La Grange.
