Nov. 10-14, 1967 In its report, the new Fayette County Grand Jury recommended that an elevator be installed in the courthouse so the third floor could be used for office space, and a new roof be placed over the older section of the Ag Building.

The 883 Fayette County residents, who went to the polls, approved five of the six proposed amendments to the Texas constitution. They voted for mental health services, veterans’ land bonds, consolidating county funds, bonds for improved parks and allowing state employees to serve on certain boards, but nixed providing medical pay aid for injured law enforcement officers.
