Two Big Flood Donations Arrive at La Grange High
A pair of big out-of-town donations for La Grange students affected by the September flood arrived at La Grange High School last week.
The Austin area of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes donated $3,200 to students at La Grange ISD affected by the flood. The money came from a fundraiser auction held on Oct. 12 in Austin. FCA area director Pat Ford presented the check to the school on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
La Grange High School formed an FCA chapter earlier this year. Coaches Heath Golan and David Cooper sponsor the club. Cooper said about 45 to 40 students regularly attend FCA meetings.
Ford said that during the Oct. 12 fundraiser, he introduced La Grange High School Principal John Pineda to the crowd of supporters and showed some flood pictures of La Grange.
“Then we said, ‘Paddles up, $100 a paddle,’ and people had their arms up left to right,” Ford recalled. “We counted it up, and $3,200 later, we were able to make this donation to help our friends and the people we serve.”
That donation came on the heels of a $5,238.30 check from Madison High School of Marshall, North Carolina, that arrived in the mail at the end of last month.
