Buyer Beware: Flooded Mobile Homes Appearing For Sale

Folks in the market for a used mobile home might want to pay close attention to signs of flood damage before making a purchase.

The mother of a flood victim from Country Way Village mobile home park in La Grange told the Record this week that a mobile home belonging to her son’s neighbor was listed for sale in Cedar Creek for $7,000, but the seller made no indication that the home suffered flood damage.

“I know there was water in that house, but they’re not telling anyone that,” said Sharon Kramer, whose son Billy Capers was part of the hearing-impaired community that lived in Country Way Village before the August flood.

Kramer said her son and a friend were looking for a used mobile home when they ran across their neighbor’s old home for sale at a lot on FM 812 near Cedar Creek. Kramer even found an ad on Facebook listing the home for sale.
