(Smiles) Anders of La Grange, attended junior high and high school here. Maj. Anders, along with Lt. Col. Michael Collins, was to be a crewman for command pilot Col. Frank Borman of the third Apollo manned flight that was expected to be launched in early 1969. Astronaut Anders and his wife, four sons and daughter, who lived in Houston, were planning to join their aunt and uncle in La Grange for Thanksgiving dinner.

Sheriff Mike Flournoy of Wharton County visited La Grange to pick up a prisoner to stand trial in Wharton on a second hot check indictment. The man already had been billed by the Fayette County grand jury in connection with passing a $15 check on La Grange State Bank.
