Emma Annie Blinka Helweg, 94, formerly of Dickinson, died Nov. 27, 2017 in Columbus. Emma was born on the family farm on Park Rd. in Fayetteville to Anna Johanna (Andreas) and Adolph F. Blinka on August 7, 1923. She was brought into this world by mid-wife, Mrs. Zelsky of Fayetteville. She was baptized Sept. 8, 1935 in the Lutheran Church in Fayetteville. Emma received her formal education in “Old Red” in Fayetteville. She was on the volleyball team, in the “5-1” Club and in the pep squad. She married the love of her life, Arthur Hugo Frank Helweg on Dec. 29, 1946. They moved to Dickinson where she worked by his side. They were blessed with two daughters, Patsy Ruth (George) Kopecky and Gloria Faye (Robert) Clements. Emma enjoyed gardening, reading her newspapers, going to her country home in Bevilport, and cooking for her family and friends. She was a charter and lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church in Dickinson. Emma will be remembered as a strong Christian woman. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands; five grandchildren, Clint Clements, Lynn (Jason) Kithas, Scott (Jessica) Clements, Michael (Dasha) Kopecky, and Mark Kopecky; and six great-grandchildren, Sabryn Merritt, Shae and Cooper Clements, Scout Kithas, and Harrison and Nicolette Clements. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Funeral services will follow Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Kethan officiating. At Emma’s request, she will be laid to rest in a private service at Fayetteville City Cemetery in Fayetteville. Serving as pallbearers will be George Kopecky, Michael Kopecky, Mark Kopecky, Scott Clements, Clint Clements, and Jason Kithas. Robert Clements will be serving as an honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 800 FM 517 Rd. E., Dickinson, TX 77539 or St. Paul Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 267, Columbus, TX 78934.
