Remember When?

A printing press that was one of the last of its kind and a pressman, who probably held a record for continuous on-the-job service, severed their long-term relationship at The Fayette County Record. The duplex web-perfecting press retired from its twice-weekly task of printing The Record and printer F. S. Bambuch moved to another part of the shop for what both he and the newspaper’s management hoped would be less strenuous and confining labors. Mr. Bambuch had been with The Record since the day Volume 1, Number 1 was printed on Nov. 2, 1922. Before that, he helped assemble the equipment on which the issue edition was printed. A founding stockholder of Farmers Publishing Company, he had never taken a vacation, and, as far as he could remember, had never missed a press day at The Record.
