Daniel Lee Zitterich, 82, of Tomball (formerly of La Grange), went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017. Daniel was born in La Grange on Jan. 31, 1935, the son of Louis Henry and Adela (Von Minden) Zitterich. He married Vera Mae (Sulik) Conley on June 9, 1990 in La Grange. Daniel served our country for 25 years in the United States Air Force where he received the Joint Service Commendation Medal and was honorably discharged in December, 1978. He was a member of the Lions Club in La Grange and Tomball where he served as Council Secretary in the Council of Governors, President and District Governor, respectively. He received numerous awards for his contributions to the community while a member of the Lions Club. He was also a very active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) where he served as Commander. Daniel was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in La Grange for 21 years and was currently a member of the Good Shephard Episcopal Church in Tomball. Daniel was known for his great sense of humor and his witty personality. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing golf, the organizations he belonged to and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was loved by his family and many friends and will be greatly missed. “Rest in peace Danny Zee. We love you.” He is survived by his wife, Vera, who was the love of his life; two daughters: Rosalynn Lewis and husband, Alton; Michelle Stoof; son, Michael Louis Zitterich and wife, Susie; three step-daughters: Becky Ponder and husband, Ronnie; Pamela May and husband, Ralph; Barbara Adam and husband, Russell; five grandchildren: Samuel “Bear” Zitterich, Ellen Daniel, Adela Lewis, Daniel Stoof, Michael Louis Churm and two additional grandchildren; seven step grandchildren: Travis Ponder; James Ponder; Clint May and wife, Lindsay; Amy Massey and husband, Ryan; Zachary Adam and wife, Brandi; Kelsey Adam and Taylor Adam; four great grandchildren: Joshua Daniel, Logan and Lylah Massey and Aja Lee Amezquita. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dannette Churm and granddaughter, Alexis Frongello. Visitation was held on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held at St. James Episcopal Church, 156 N. Monroe St. in La Grange, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017. Burial followed at La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club International Foundation Eye Bank, Dept. 4547, Carol Stream, IL 60122- 4547.
