Crispin aka “Speedy” Tamez, was called to his heavenly home on Jan. 1, 2018, surrounded by his loving, caring and ever- faithful family. He was born on May 23, 1928, in Combes. Mr. Tamez was preceded in death by his parents, Crispin Tamez and Margarita Elizondo and grandparents, Margarito Elizondo and Isabel Nunez de Elizondo and his brothers Ramon and Manuel Tamez. Speedy is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 65 years, Beatrice Leal Tamez; children and grandchildren: David (Julie) Tamez (Blane and Ryan Tamez) of Austin, Texas; Daniel (Joyce) Tamez (Dawson and Damon Tamez) of Hutto, Texas; Diana Tamez (Desirae Day) of College Station, Texas. Further survivors include a sister, Juanita and numerous nieces and nephews. He served honorably in the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army. Speedy was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. in Sterling, ILL. for over 29 years until moving to La Grange, Texas in 1979. He worked for Hurricane Fence Inc. until his retirement. He was a hard-working, kind, nurturing and giving person and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Brookdale in Lakeway. We will always be grateful for the excellent care he received. The Tamez family received friends and family at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home, 967 E. Colorado in La Grange, on Jan. 3, 2018 from 3 to 7 p.m. A Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held on Jan. 4, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial followed at the La Grange City Cemetery after church services. Family suggests memorial donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
