Elo Tietjen of Rutersville recorded 33.68 inches of rain, while Elo Schertz of Fayetteville tallied 42 inches in 1967, compared to an official tally of 33.88 for La Grange.

The first new baby of 1968 made her debut at Fayette Memorial Hospital on Jan. 6 at 7:25 a.m. Theresa Marie, the second child of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Olenick of La Grange, was also welcomed by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Freudenberg and Mr. and Mrs. John Ernst, all of La Grange.
