Pechal
Albert B. Pechal, 86, of La Grange, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018. Albert was born in La Grange on Aug. 19, 1931, the son of Martin and Frances (Nemec) Pechal. Albert served in the US Air Force and was stationed at Kelly AFB during his time of active duty. He worked as a landscaper for Vernon Wenske and was an intricate, detailed, custom gunsmith. Albert enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and feeding and watching the wild birds. He planted many pecan trees, watched them grow and then picked the thousands and thousands pounds of pecans they produced. He is survived by one sister, Polly Epps of Houston, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Val Pechal and Ruby Tielsch of La Grange and Pauline Pechal of Sacramento, Calif.; one brother-in-law, Gene Gimble of Tyler, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Julius, Benjamin, Milton and Joseph Pechal; five sisters: Beatrice Clark, Bessie Schultz, Mary Hayden, Elsie Linthicum and Helen Gimble. Visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 from 12 to 6 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. Family received friends from 5 to 6. A Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 539 E. Pearl in La Grange, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018. Burial followed at La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter, Hospice Brazos Valley or a charity of one’s choice.
