Jane Dunnewold to Give Free Lecture at Texas Quilt Museum

A free lecture by Jane Dunnewold will be held at the Texas Quilt Museum on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. Museum admission is free beginning at 2 p.m. 

After Dunnewold viewed an exhibition of the work of French artist Henri Matisse at the San Antonio Museum of Art, she realized that the colors and unique perspective in his still life paintings made her “very happy.” And she could not get the “wild patterns” out of her head.In a stroke of inspiration, Dunnewold decided to incorporate vintage textiles by anonymous makers from her collection into a quilt series as an homage to Matisse and other masters, linking fine art and craft “in a dance of old and new.”
