Two people reported seeing a wolf in a secluded area of Fayette County between Muldoon and Cistern last week.

Joey Krnavek, a local pipeline worker, told the Record he saw the wolf last Friday, Jan. 26, on property belonging to Lawrence and Donna Gembler on FM 2237 near Holstein Road.

The Record contacted Lawrence Gembler this week, who said that he also saw the wolf and took a photo of it. Gembler estimated he was standing 350 yards away from the creature when he snapped the photo. The photo shows a blurry four-legged animal, which appears about the size of a deer, standing in what could be described as a dog-like stance.

“It was a beautiful animal,” said Lawrence Gembler.

Krnavek said he was working with the property owner and other workers when the wolf appeared and howled between 10:30 and 11 p.m.

“They said it howled four or five times before I heard it," Krnavek said.
