Schulenburg Firefighter’s House Burns

A Schulenburg firefighter lost his home in a fire early Saturday morning, Feb. 3.

“This one hits really close to home,” said Schulenburg Fire Chief Jeff Proske.

Proske said his department received the fire call around 4:15 a.m. on Feb. 3. The fire was at a home on FM 956 south of St. John belonging to veteran Schulenburg firefighter Quentin Riche. Proske said Riche was attending a wedding in Las Vegas over the weekend. No one was at home when the fire started. It completely destroyed the house and all of the contents.

“There wasn’t even a wall standing when we got there,” Proske said.
