80-Year-Old Woman Kicked Off Train in Flatonia
Amtrak officials kicked an 80-year-old woman off a train in Flatonia Sunday morning, Feb. 11, according to Flatonia Police Chief Perry Kram.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Kram said the train stopped in town and requested that a local police officer meet with the train crew. Kram said the Amtrak employees told police the woman was being disruptive and could no longer continue on the train. Kram said the temperature was about 30 degrees Sunday morning. He said the woman was from California and was travelling to Houston. Kram said the woman did not appear disruptive to him.
“I don’t see how this 80-year-old woman was a threat to anyone on that train,” Kram said.
Kram said he acquired a bus ticket for the woman to travel to Houston, which was her final destination on the train. The Record attempted to contact Amtrak for a statement on Sunday, but the train service had not returned our call at the time of this publication.
