William Michael Malak
William Michael Malak, 85, of Ledbetter, died Friday, March 2, 2018. William was born in Montgomery County on April 18, 1932, the son of George and Mary (Pasket) Malak. He married Marceil Meiners on Aug. 29, 1953 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Houston. After serving in the U.S. Army he worked as a machinist in the Houston area for several machine shops that specialized in oilfield supplies. He received his 20 year service award from Ametek. In 1995 William retired and moved to Ledbetter. He was a member of the SPJST for over 50 years. Receiving his recognition pin in 2016. William enjoyed deer hunting, dancing, gardening, playing dominoes, skat and summer trips to Las Vegas. He like to repurpose anything he could find that needed his handy man talents. He is survived by his wife, Marceil, granddaughter, Michelle Malak of Ledbetter, great-granddaughter, Miriam Lambert of Ledbetter; sister, Leona Brown of Elmendorf, son-in-law, Jerry Brown and wife, Linda of San Leon, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Arlene Brown; three brothers: Pete, Lee and Sylvester Malak; one sister, Sadie Harrell. Visitation was held on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. A prayer service will follow at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Carmine Lutheran Church, 211 Luther Lane, Carmine, Texas 78932, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Burial will follow at Waldeck Cemetery in Waldeck.
