Through a Child’s Eyes
You never know what is going through the mind of a child, unless they tell you, and then sometimes it really surprises you.
Recently, my granddaughter Blair had to be taken to Dell Children’s emergency center because of a high fever that occurred after 5 p.m. This was made more difficult because she doesn’t have good memories of that ER. You see, every time she has previously visited there, she has been admitted to the hospital and ended up in surgery.
Most six-year-old little girls don’t have to worry about when the next surgery is going to occur, but unfortunately, my granddaughter does. So, whenever she has to go to a doctor’s office (or ER) there is always a little apprehension on her part. Her parents try to prepare her for whatever the expected outcome will be each time, but in her mind, doctor = surgery = pain = missing school again. She hates missing school.
