Larry Wayne Marusik
Larry Wayne Marusik, 68, of Ellinger, died Friday, March 23, 2018. Larry was born in La Grange on March 21, 1950, the son of Edwin and Nola (Blazek) Marusik. He married Diane Faye (Ilse) Marusik on April 17, 1971 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger. Larry worked his entire life as a welder/fabricator in Houston until he retired in 2012. However, he was never truly retired. Diane and he moved back to their hometown of Ellinger in 2014 where he spent much of his time after retirement continuing to remain busy, from continuing to work with his hands in his shop, to hunting, to making sausage, to tending to his garden, and to spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger and served on the Parish Council. Larry also enjoyed volunteering regularly at the food pantry in Fayetteville, Texas and serving with the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce. Larry served the last four years on the Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed serving and answering calls to help those in need. While on a call on March 10, 2018, he was injured in the line of duty and paid the ultimate price while helping others. He is survived by his wife, Diane; brother, Lee Marusik and wife, Marjorie, of McKinney; one daughter, Dawn (Marusik) Supak, of Fayetteville; two sons, Corey Marusik of Houston; and Curt Marusik and wife, Amy, of The Woodlands; and eight grandchildren, Kelton and Keagan Supak, Lillie, Ayin, Esterlyn, Agatha, Owen, and Sumner Marusik, who loved their “Papaw” very much. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife’s parents, Harold and Evelyn (Orsak) Ilse of Ellinger; and son-in-law, Patrick Supak of Fayetteville. Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Services were held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
